Time-saving over-labelling for hospital pharmacies
Hospital Over-labelling

Finding a reliable, efficient over-labelling partner is an essential strategic decision for any hospital pharmacy. At Mawdsleys, we understand the unique needs of busy hospital pharmacists because we’ve spent decades working alongside and consulting with them.

When over-labelling is done well, it provides a huge opportunity to save time, money and stress. And nobody does it better than us. In Mawdsleys, you get a partner with state-of-the-art facilities, alignment with legal and regulatory requirements and two centuries of medical distribution experience to draw upon. And you can take this to next level with our unique “combination packs”, which can further speed up discharge and reassure patients.

Our dedicated MHRA-approved 22,000 square foot hub enables us to efficiently over-label more than 250,000 packs per month. Plus, our main hospital services site operates under GMP, and all orders are released by Qualified Persons (QPs), which assures a reliable, compliant and unparalleled high-quality service for hospitals and patients.

Professional service

We offer a 24–48-hour production turnaround on over 150 commonly-used lines with standard directive labels. We can also include a secondary address label and deliver within 3–5 working days. Many hospitals also benefit from our completely bespoke service, tailored to meet their needs within a 10–14 working day window.

These service levels are maintained by dedicated internal and external account managers who will deal with quotes, new lines and take care of any queries for you. So, if you ever need help or support, our responsive customer service team are there to help.

PREP & PEP pre-labelled packs – ENGLAND ONLY

Since 2017 we have partnered with NHSE&I to supply Clinics and Hospitals, in England, as the only supplier of NHS contracted pre-labelled PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) packs and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) kits for the prevention of HIV.

Rolling orders

Our rolling order service enables customers to ensure that their own over-labelled stock is ready to go when they need it. By prearranging a regular delivery slot (e.g. weekly, monthly) we can simplify the order and delivery processes and completely manage it ourselves on behalf of the customer. But we can always accept additional requests for stock if customers need it. Just take a look at the benefits of rolling orders:

  • Better stock management – labelled products available for next day delivery
  • Frees up dispensary space
  • Saves staff time in busy hospital pharmacies
  • Staggered invoicing – each time stock is delivered a separate invoice is issued
Combination packs

We supply a number of combination packs such as MRSA and Pain Packs, which contain pre-determined medicines that are commonly prescribed together. This speeds up the dispensing and therefore the discharge process. The combination pack service can give you a whole host of benefits:

  • Acting as an extension of your dispensary, freeing up space and time
  • Freeing up beds and waiting time
  • Reducing patient queries thanks to easy-to-understand patient information leaflets
  • All the Trust needs to do is write the patient’s name on the pack
